set-back.

It's been a while since my last post and I have good reason. Well, let me reprahse that. It's been a while since my last post and it's because I injured myself. ugh. I woke up a week and a half ago with an intense neck cramp. Just like other neck cramps I've gotten, I had assumed I slept on it wrong and let the movements throughout my day loosen it up. This one, however, was different. It felt like something more serious. I spent the next 2 days in pain with constant icing/heating applied to the neck. I went to the chiropractor on Monday and found out I had a popped rib! The neck pain was caused from "over-worked" muscles compensating for the popped rib.

I've been receiving therapy almost every day and some days are better than others. Found out that popped ribs are extremely common and can happen in your sleep. Who knew sleep could be so dangerous to your body? So with this news brought a major set-back in my training. Considering I can barely walk and move my head, it doesn't look like I'll be getting on a treadmill or outdoor trail any time soon. I would still like to participate in the 3k, whether it be walking the or a light jog. Even with this awful news, I am still looking forward to participating in another race in the fall. Right now my focus is to get better :)
