drum roll please.

i want to thank all the lovely ladies megan, whitney, chelsea, marissa, and grace for sharing their guilty pleasures with us these last few days. i figured it would only be fair if i shared mine as well. so here we go.

drum roll please...

jk. it's not that dramatic.

i cannot get enough of cheesecake. it is my ultimate guilty pleasure. i have a huge sweet tooth and love all desserts, but in my eyes nothing beats cheesecake. it has been my favorite ever since i can remember. do not come in between me and a slice of that heavenly dessert. or i will destroy you.

i can eat cheesecake any time during the day - breakfast? yes. lunch? of course. dinner? duh.

it doesn't even matter what flavor. i will eat it and love it.

i hope you all enjoyed this little series while i've been gone. i'm currently in belfast and having the time of my life. but i'm looking forward to heading home on sunday and reuniting with boyfriend.

guest post - "sometimes i do it twice a day".

hi pocket full of chuckles readers!
i'm grace, the skillful mastermind behind the blog, whati.

i'm here today because whilst erica galavants around europe, i'm meant to share with you a guilty pleasure.
can't quite figure out how that's fair...
but i'm here none the less.

in thinking about a guilty pleasure to share with the world wide web, i considered trying to make it something hilariously quirky and cute.

here are a few of the ideas:

i HAVE to finish the crossword puzzle in the sunday times before i can get anything done!
(picture painted: i'm carrie bradshaw wearing men's glasses chewing with concern on a pencil, my hair in the perfect top knot.)

i treat myself to a mani/pedi weekly, i just can't wear chipped nail polish or see even the hint of a cuticle!
(picture painted: i'm one of those organized girls who always looks perfectly put together and flawless. she probably gets her eyebrows waxed more than once every 6 months too. and always wears heels.)

chocolate. red wine. carbs.
(then you'd think eating those things made me feel guilty. they don't.)

then i remembered that to succeed in blogging you have to be at least SEMI-truthful, so i better just be really real with the fans of pocket full of chuckles.

it's only fair.

my guilty pleasure is q-tipping.

i can't get enough.

sometimes i do it twice a day! i even have travel q-tips in a special little case in my bag just in case i get the urge and i'm not at home with my q-tip jar!

what the heck. that's not cute OR quirky. it's weird, and it's horrible for your ears.

so now you know.

keeping the blog posts real and the ears real clean,

guest post - "the only thing guilty about this...".

The only thing guilty about this (rather refined, I must say) pleasure, is the amount in which I eat it. It’s far too easy and therefore dangerous, so please don’t hold me accountable for further addictions! Traditionally a Spanish snack, but this treat is getting popular all over the world for its salty-sweet goodness. It even showed up in my inbox recently as the daily recipe from Epicurious

Bread and Chocolate with Olive Oil

Take some crusty, country bread. Put it in the oven until golden and crisp. Sprinkle with grated dark chocolate and place it back in the oven until the chocolate melts. Take it out of the oven and drizzle the tiniest amount of good olive oil on top and then dust it with some sea salt.

Are you drooling yet? And if you’re not already mad at me for sharing this new addiction with you, come to the boot for more mouth-watering recipes and fun! Thank you Erica for having me today!

guest post - "i was obviously a boy band fanatic".

Hi there! I'm Chelsea and I blog over at Life is a Sunset. I was thrilled when Erica asked me to guest post about one of my guilty pleasures. Let's be honest... I have a few. If you've visited my blog before, you might already know about this guilty pleasure. If not, let me just start off by saying that I'm not ashamed and I fully embrace this strong love of mine. So, without further ado, my guilty pleasure is...The 90's

That's right - that one marvelous decade full of horrible fashion and the corniest yet most classic TV shows ever. Oh, and boy bands. Join me as I take a trip down memory lane. Also, I just want to put it out there that I pretty much had the time of my life putting this post together.

I was obviously a boy band fanatic and it alllll started with the Backstreet Boys. My song of choice will always be "As Long As You Love Me." Do yourself a favor and go YouTube the video now for old times' sake. While you're at it, watch my favorite video of. all. time - N*Sync's "I Want You Back." I also did fun things like watch Pop-up Videos
Pinned Image

I played with my Barbie's and their super sweet motor home

When I got bored with my Barbies {believe me, this rarely happened} I had a few other favorite items to keep me entertained:

Is it not hilarious to look back at who our "dream guys" used to be? And the hair. Ohhh, the
hair! This is just a small glimpse into what life was like for me in the 90's. However, let's not forget the theme here - guilty pleasures. I not only loved these things back then, but I love them still today! You better believe I still blast old school Mandy Moore CD's in my car, consider bringing back slap bracelets, and may or may not watch Beverly Hills: 90210 and Full House on DVD.

If you're a 90's lover too, just know that I have a 90's feature on my blog where I talk and reminisce about all these wonderful and hilarious mementos from the past every so often. So, feel free to stop by, say hi, and take another trip down memory lane!

Thanks, Erica for having me today! It was a real "pleasure" :) Now, friends... please, share with us your favorite guilty pleasures of the 90's!

guest post - "i would cut a bitch for hot tamales".

thank's to my new bestie...i am here entertaining you today.

normally i write about weird shit that people either laugh at...or just move along. you should read it here.

but back to the topic at hand. guilty pleasures.

the good ol dictionary defines 'guilty pleasure' as such:
something pleasurable that induces a usually minor feeling of guilt

so with that in are mine. that i currently gave up. fml.

1. hot tamales. i would cut a bitch for hot tamales. seriously. i probably have. and right now CVS has them 2 for 1. and you know what? i didn't buy them. because i was an idiot and convinced myself that i should give them up. for any particular reason? no.

but seriously. there is nothing like eating a whole box of hot tamales to make your day better. you should try it if you hate your job.

2. chips and salsa. holy shittake. something about going to a mexican restaurant and judging them on their salsa quality. i could eat chips and salsa for the rest of my life. all day. every day. which is why...i gave these up too. i'm retarded. but i did it before and it helps. to not crave it all the time.

side note: have you seen that weird eaters show on tlc? the one where they eat corn starch and all that? it is weird.

3. digiorno pizza. enough said.

i wish i could eat the whole thing in one sitting. but i would feel like the fat kid. but it is so damn good. and even better cold for breakfast.

i can't tell you the last time i voluntarily chose delivery over it. never. actually.

[i am a bia and forgot to grab photo credits. sorry if i stole. email me and i will fix it. promise]

well that is all. i hope erica is having a fun time galavanting around in poland. and not freezing. but i am sure she is. it is cold there

guest post - "use a condom".

Hi there, Pocket Full of Chuckle-rs! I'm Megan and I blog over at Freckled Italian.

In August, my boyfriend and I moved to Charlottesville so that he could do this one-year master's program at UVA, and for a week or two, I was a little bit unemployed. Sure, I had a master's thesis to work on, a running habit to support, new friends to make, and an apartment to keep clean that would have kept me busy, but somehow I found myself hooked on what is literally the worst show I've ever seen. It was The Amazing Life of a Secret Teenager. The Secret Life of American Teenagers. Secret Life of the American Teenager. Seriously though, what is that show called?

My boyfriend, Rob would come home after class, which was well after noon, and peek his head into our room where yes, I was still in bed. With a cup of coffee in my hand, my computer on my lap, and a look of shame across my face. It was like some kind of time warp. I'd play an episode, and suddenly four hours had passed. The worst part was that I really hated the show, but I couldn't stop. I looked forward to my Secret Life time every morning. Sometimes, I cried when characters were sad. When I finished the series, I actually wondered what I was supposed to do next. It was a dark time, friends.

If you enjoy this show, then I'm sorry. This might be awkward since we just became friends and everything.

But it's nothing like real life. That wouldn't bother me, except that they try to portray real life and teach us something. I actually get really angry when I start thinking about it, and I even started taking notes as I watched episodes (when I finish my thesis, I'll have a master's degree in children's literature--dissecting media directed at young girls is kind of what I do, especially if it's stupid, bad, or harmful, which are all true in the case of Secret Life). First of all, sex is viewed as like, the world's most dangerous weapon. The show is painfully didactic--at one point the main character practically looks at the camera and says something to the effect of, "I only had sex one time. It wasn't even fun! And now I'm pregnant". Her father, who is actually the father in 10 Things I Hate About You, plays basically the same role and is Creepy Dad who is terrified his daughter will get pregnant, except in Secret Life he doesn't have that cool change of heart and send the deposit check over to his daughter's dream school. I hated that guy.

Like I said, I took notes. I could go on and on and on and on and on, but I'll spare you.

I justified my bad TV habit by saying that one day, I'd write something about it. So I'm really glad Erica emailed me and asked if I'd write a post about one of my guilty pleasures. I feel much more at peace now. But I still don't know what happened to get me so hooked. Sometimes I search to see if there's another season that no one's telling me about. Don't tell anyone I said that.

Good luck, ladies. It's a tough world out there, especially for a sixteen year old. Use a condom!

my instagram weekend {23}.

i'm frantically trying to get everything together before i leave tomorrow morning. i work well under pressure. i have yet to pack but i pretty much know what i'm bringing.  so i estimate it will only take me 30 minutes. unless i'm watching teen mom. multi-tasking is not one of my strong suites.

i'm so thrilled to announce an AMAZING group of ladies who will be guest posting while i'm gone. i'm honored to have them on here and keep this thing afloat while i'm away. i asked them to write around the theme - guilty pleasures. how fun, right?! it starts tomorrow so be sure to come back and check them out. you won't be disappointed.

on another note, i had an AMAZING weekend in nj and nyc this past weekend. my friend 'said yes to the dress' and it is fabulous. we took a very cold stroll around the city (we spotted some flurries), grabbed some lunch and snacks at eataly and had some much needed girl talk. i got back on sunday afternoon, met up with boyfriend at our favorite pho restaurant and then headed over to the caps game where we had pretty sweet seats. oh!! and i spotted pat sajak again. in the same exact seat as last time. no big deal.

i can't wait to head back up there on february 3 for the engagement party. it'll be the first time boyfriend sees my hometown! i already have a long list of places to show him - pretty much all revolving around food. naturally.

welp folks, i'm outtie. see you on january 30 :)

color crush.

happy friday, loves!
i've been looking forward to this weekend for a while. i leave tonight to go to jersey to help my bestie find a wedding dress in nyc! her wedding isn't until november but she wants to get a head start on the dress search - i don't blame her. we'll also take a look at some bridesmaid dresses which i'm also excited about. her and i have been friends for the last 8 or so years and i'm so honored to be a part of her big day.
we're waking up bright and early on saturday to start our adventure at a few boutiques in midtown, then we will end the day at kleinfelds. yup, the kleinfelds that's in "say yes to the dress". sadly, we will not have our 15 minutes of fame. i haven't seen my besties since labor day weekend so i can't wait to have a complete girls weekend. it's just what i need!
i'm linking up today in {av}'s friday's fancies. i've been loving everything mustard and gold lately. for me the color always screams "autumn", but with yesterday getting up to 60 degrees it hasn't quite felt like "winter". and i'm okay with that.
i hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
do you have anything exciting planned?

how old is pat sajak?

i met pat sajak once. well, sorta. i was at a caps game last year and he was sitting a few rows in front of me and to the left. it was a huge deal. see, i have proof.

but i'm watching wheel of fortune right now (don't judge) and how old do you think he is? without googling it.

i'm thinking early 60's. do you think him and vanna white ever hooked up? for sure.

alright let's move on.

you know what's awesome? having a boyfriend that can cook.

you know what's even more awesome? having a boyfriend that can cook authentic chinese food.

i'm craving this right now. if we weren't going out to dinner tonight for dc restaurant week then i would make him ask him to make this.

i could also go for this scrumptious turkey sandwich.

boyfriend used to work at a sandwich shop. so suffice to say he can put together a mean sandwich. loaded with goodness.
(turkey, muenster cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, onions, dukes mayo, balsamic vinaigrette and hot cherry peppers on italian bread)

on another note...have you guys seen this video?

how random and weird is this post? we're all allowed one of those from time to time, right?

seven days.

no, i am not referencing the ring.
(great, now i will have nightmares)

instead i am counting down the days until i leave for my much anticipated trip.

so in honor of my upcoming trip, i wanted to dedicate today's post to one of my favorite things about traveling.

sampling the local cuisine.

it's no secret that i love to eat. heck. (did i just say heck?) probably 95% of this blog is dedicated to food/restaurants/ get the idea.

while i'm in england (leeds, london and cambridge) i'll be sure to nosh on some delicious indian food and a traditional english breakfast. with tea. love me some tea.

when i went to england back in 2009 i had some of THE BEST indian food. it was actually the first time i ever tried indian food. since then i've had plenty of indian dishes and to-date my meal in england still ranks #1.

the minute we touch down in seville, spain i'm going to run to the nearest cafe and order some churros and chocolate. i've never had a churro. can you believe it?! i've been dreaming of them for weeks. dipped in chocolate. get in my belly.

of course i will also be eating plenty of tapas and paella. i lived in madrid during the summer of 2006 and my love for both has only grown since then. i can't wait to go back to this country.

next stop: krakow, poland. where pierogi's and sausage awaits.

can i tell you a secret? growing up i used to hate pierogi's. like really HATE them.

i can hear your gasps.

let me explain. my best friend/neighbor was polish. and her sweet, little, polish grandmother would always be over cooking pierogi's. they would always try to get me to eat them. practically forced. they ate pierogi's all the time. we ate macaroni all the time. i just assumed "to each their own". no need forcing it upon anybody. but i did try them and i just never grew to love them. i think it was the texture. and they always smelled a little funky. so one day i finally put up my little 8 year old hands and said "NO MORE PIEROGI'S"! since then i haven't had a single one. it's been 18 years. at this point it's not like i'm banning pierogi's from my life, it's mostly because i never come across them. but this is the perfect chance to break my 18 year streak and embrace this polish dish. i'm doing it, guys. and you know what? i'll probably really enjoy it and then curse out those 18 years.

our final stop on this backpacking tour is belfast, northern ireland. not gonna lie. i wasn't too sure what type of cuisine they're known for. i mean i know there's the whole 'meat and potatoes' and 'irish stew' thing...but i've heard northern ireland isn't ranked high on the list of delicious foods. so i did a quick google search and found a few sites talking highly about their irish soda bread. i've never had irish soda bread. is it gross? even if it is i'll still try it. that's dedication. i pretty much plan on drinking a lot of beer once i'm here any way. so maybe i won't remember how bad it is?

i hope you liked my post today. i was really excited to write it and explain a little more about my trip! if you know of any traditional dishes that i should try in belfast and/or any of the other locations i'm visiting, please let me know!!

are you following me on pinterest yet?! all the cool kids are doing it.

we've been collecting corks ever since we moved in together and a few weeks ago i thought it would be a good time to put those things to use and make a cork board!

we still have a few more bottles of wine to drink before it's done (ha, i'm not complaining), but i'm already liking where this is heading.

it's so easy to make! here's what i did...

1. went to michaels and purchased a wooden frame, plywood for the back of frame (not pictured here) and red paint. total cost - about $5.50

2. paint frame.

3. take plywood (measure and cut to the size of the frame if needed) and hot glue edges to the back of the painted wooden frame.

4. spread out your corks and start arranging them on the board in a pattern. i placed two vertical and two horizontal corks in a repeating pattern.
*i first did a dry-run of each section before i hot glued them to the board.

and there you have it. like i said we still need a few more but that shouldn't be a problem. we like our wine. and the bonus? this entire thing cost me about $5. well, if you don't count the bottles of wine we had to drink. heyyy, i'm sure some of them were gifts.
i eventually want to hang this in our hallway and display some of my instagram pictures on here!

do you guys know how to print instagram pics?? i hear there is a website or something?

my instagram weekend {22}.

friday night: i hung out with whitney and we transported back to 2007 and played kings at my house before heading to the bar. that game is stupid. it's such a long game and involves too much thinking.

saturday: boyfriend and i tried disco taco for the very first time. annnnd we didn't want to leave. look how massive that burrito is? yup, i devoured the entire thing. #noshame. it took so much out of me that i had to take a nap afterwards. boyfriend woke me up (was not happy about that) and convinced me to not waste any more of the day. so we went on a bike ride. which i'm glad we did because it was 65 degrees out. what is going on!? i think the world is definitely coming to an end. where is the snow?!

sunday funday: whitney introduced me to the champagne brunch at chadwicks. ummm, it was the best sunday funday ever. for $22 you can get a meal plus unlimited champagne (huevos rancheros for me). that is my kind of afternoon. i met her sister and friend and the four of us took over the bar. i think we went through 5 bottles of champagne? i went home and passed out on the couch. woke up just in time for once upon a time. my new favorite show.

how was your weekend?

after a great weekend i'm looking forward to an even better week. my mom is coming to visit on wednesday and i can't wait. she is providing some extra support for another surgery follow-up appointment on thursday. i hope it goes okay.
