9 flights; 9 trains; 6 buses. part 1.

happy valentine's day! i hope your day is full of love and happiness. we are going to our favorite sushi place tonight and having a delicious funfetti cake that i made for dessert. do you have any plans?

so, i'm itching for another vacation. every time i come back from a trip i always feel like i need to take a vacation from my vacation! you ever feel like that? #lifeisrough

my trip last month was amazing. but with it came exhaustion. in 11 days we took a total of 9 flights, 9 train rides and 6 buses, tackling 4 countries. WHAT?! we don't mess around. let's recap, shall we?
every time i fly somewhere i experience one problem or another - whether it's my alarm not going off or forgetting something at home. it's always something. this trip was no different. our flight left at 12:30 pm so my plan was to leave my apartment at 9:45 am, meet my travel companion at her house - which was only 15 minutes away from the airport, and take a taxi to the airport.  so around 9:45 am i headed to my car, threw my bags in the trunk, did a triple check for my passport (check!), and started my car.

so i never drive my car. i maybe take it out once or twice a month. so of all days for this stupid vehicle to be dead...well, the timing could not have been worse! i tried not to panic. so i called my parents, who are in north carolina. as if they could help me in this situation.

i called the boyfriend who was at work. he was in a really important meeting and couldn't leave to come get me. super. i call my friend who i'm supposed to meet in 10 minutes and tell her there is a problem. while i'm in the middle of complaining and whining about how i didn't want to spend $100 on a cab ride to the aiport, i somehow remembered about an express bus to the airport that leaves from one of the metro stops. i booked it to the station and made it just in time.

i felt like i was on the amazing race.

we had a 6 hour layover in new jersey (holler!) so naturally we enjoyed many cold beers before boarding our miserable flight.

the overnight flight to manchester, england was horrendous. i did not sleep. at all. even after taking dremamine. thank god for the 50 + movie options. it kept my sanity in check. i watched 'friends with benefits' and 'one day'. i cried like a little baby at 'one day'. the guy next to me was so concerned.

i was a hot mess upon landing in england. we caught the train to harrogate where i was able to sleep for the most glorious 1.5 hours. we got to harrogate around 10 a.m. the sun was shining, locals were shopping and drinking tea outside and everything was right in the world. this was my second time in harrogate and i was overcome with such happiness. that city is lovely. if you ever have a chance to go, do it!

we spent the day strolling the streets and just taking it easy. we would be back in harrogate again on the last leg of our trip, so we decided we just wanted to relax. i was able to squeeze in 2 hours of sleep before we headed out for the night. harrogate is like a college town so it gets absolutely ridiculous at night. one of the main reasons why i love this place so much.

pretty much death in a teapot. only in england.

running on 3.5 hours of sleep.

next stop: seville, spain!

Something crazy always happens to me too when traveling. At the time I'm always in the worst state of panic, but looking back it makes for a great story! :) Can't wait to hear more about your travels :) :)

(oh & Happy Valentine's Day!) xoxo

It's not an adventure without some chaos, right? ;)

I have NEVER been to Europe but want to go so badly. These pictures are making me want to go to England! What's in that teapot? Other than death lol! And why the ice?! I'm intrigued!
