story of my life.

When I think back on these last 27 years of my life
the very first thing that comes to my mind is –
“omg, how am I already 27?!”
And then I think – “what have I done with my life? Like reallllly done.”
Sure I’m almost 30 and may not have it all together.
But who really does?
I may not be in a job that I absolutely love,
or know what I’m supposed to be doing for the rest of my life,
but dammit I’ve had a pretty good time getting here.
Through all the ups and downs, tears and laughter,
it’s pretty crazy how everything can align when you least expect it
........
I was born on the last day of September
and spent the first 2.5 years of my life in a lovely home
that had a pool and was down the street from my cousins.
I then spent the next 19 years of my life in Hillsborough, New Jersey –
the best place on earth, obviously.
I spent my childhood playing on our circle with all the neighbors
and trying to keep up with my older brother.
I was a tomboy. Very athletic. And hated dresses.
I played baseball for a few years, then softball for a few more
but switched over to track in high school.
I ran hurdles and the 400M and became an All-American my junior year.
(not to toot my own horn or anything...)
Don’t get me wrong, I did channel a small ounce of my inner girly girl
by playing barbies for hours and tap dancing for 13 years.

proof.

I got the travel itch at an early age.
My brother and I were lucky to have parents who could take us on amazing vacations.
By the age of 17 I had been to Mexico, Canada, up and down the east coast, Arizona, Aruba, and much of the Caribbean.

I graduated from West Virginia University in 2007, with a Bachelor’s in Advertising and minor in International Studies.
In those 4.5 years I joined a sorority, met a group of girls who have become my real life sisters, studied abroad in Madrid and got to travel around Spain, explore Portugal and eat my way through Italy – the homeland.

gaucho pants were so on trend.

After graduation a job took me to DC and I felt completely lost.
I had no idea where my life was going and felt disconnected from the rest of the world.
Two years later I started making plans to move to North Carolina
as a way to hopefully find myself again.
I planned one big trip with my bestie to travel around Europe for my 24th birthday
and when I got back to DC, just as I was getting ready to pack my bags,
a certain someone came into my life and completely changed it.
And in less than 6 months, he will be my husband
:)

i can't wait to see what the next 27 years will bring!

I love that you got to travel starting when you were young. I didn't start traveling until college and I almost regret all that wasted time!

That pic of you with the makeup is amazing. If only I still had eyeshadow like that. ;) And you did pack a lot into the last 27 years!! Congratulations on your engagement and I'm sure the next 27 years will bring just as many, if not more, great adventures! Looking forward to following along during the challenge. :)

We're neighbors. And the same age. :) Well, I live on the MD side of DC but my husband's friends all make more money than us so that bought homes in Arlington and so, anyway, we're neighbors! Haha!

Love traveling, too. Gosh... if only I could do it all the time. Congrats on your engagement! Come stop by some time!

Loved this post! That dance photo is seriously adorable. Also, I need to get back to 'the homeland' ASAP. My favorite place in the world :)
